Huntington Lake

I usually try to spent a week at Huntington Lake in mid-August. Often, I'm fortunate to have Bob join me for several days of sailing.

Huntington is one of a string of several lakes that provide power to the Southern California Edison power grid. These shots are of the power station below Huntington.

The lake is well known in the Hobie Cat fraternity for its wonderful sailing and camping conditions... very unusual in the High Sierras, above 7,000 feet.

This is our home away from home.

These are the penstock pipes as they approach the power plant at the SCE powerplant at Deer Creek.

Just visible in the upper left corner, you can see the pipes as they pass over a rise into the base of a dam on Huntington Lake.

Here the pipes are passing under the access road into the powerplant.
