The workhorses of the air combat troops are the Air Forces F16 and the Navy's F18 (shown here). This is really a hot rod.

Basically a stock P51D, set up for racing. The more advanced competitors modify the wings, air intake and canopies to reduce drag. But isn't it pretty as is!
(2002)

There are lots of restored war birds at this show. I think this is a restored Mitchell bomber, unless I'm confused.
(2002)
The F16 Stike Eagle, perhaps the class of the world in aerodynamics. Pretty dull as a still photographic target though.

An F14 and 3 F18's. Really cool to watch.
(2002)
Part of the show is a Navy demo of a air rescue operation. The show culminates in a simulated attack run by two F18's. Corny, but it gets the blood moving.

Big problem on the final day of the show!

Wind was high all weekend, but especially on Sunday, resulting in tremendous sand storms.

The planes could move, but not the cars!
